Karla Reid | Administrative Assistant Karla was born in St. Johns, Michigan, raised in Detroit, and raised her own children in a small, country town southwest of Ann Arbor. While raising her family of three, Karla was the Minister of Music's assistant at the large church they attended. Karla was involved in some capacity of church most of her life. She accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was eight years old during Sunday School and she can't imagine living without Him. She taught Sunday School, was a Missionette leader (similar to Girl Scouts), played piano for worship services, was keyboardist of the praise band from its inception in the '80's and filled in for the choir pianist, was a handbell ringer and director, created and led the youth worship band, sang in the choir and even helped clean the small church she attended as a child. Karla now has nine grandchildren, of which two are girls. She has been a part of the Westminster staff since April of 2002. One of the worse tragedies in her life was losing her 16-year-old grandson, Caleb, to suicide in February of 2017. After going through the hurt, the pain and the "why" questions, she realized she needed God's presence more than anything else - even answers. As Rick Warren said of his process of grief, "I’d rather live and walk with God and have my questions unanswered than have all my questions answered and not walk with God." Besides her grandchildren she enjoys her dogs, music, sewing and gardening. She and her husband also like to take short weekend trips to the beach together. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
