Serving Spartanburg's homeless families |
WPC is joining with other local churches to provide a place for homeless families to live during a season of transition. While we are not hosting on our campus, we are building a team who will serve at a nearby location (Fernwood Baptist on Fernwood Drive) to be overnight hosts and/or meal providers. There are also several donation needs. Thank you for serving with your time or donations! |
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke... Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” Isaiah 58:6-7 |
More about Homeless Families with Children in SpartanburgDid you know that over 1,000 children have been identified as "homeless" by the school districts in Spartanburg? What would it look like if local churches around our city rose up to address this need, and wholeheartedly agreed that we can do something? "A Way Home" comes to us as city leaders and organizations in Spartanburg seek to provide solutions to serve the homeless population. If this sounds familiar, that's because we used to participate in a similar program called SPIHN. This is basically the same concept, with a few variations - and updated to serve the families in our community better. WPC partners with Come Closer Spartanburg, and we will continue to hear about the needs in our city and the ways we can step up to love our neighbors. Here is Come Closer's leader, Chris Pollard, sharing a bit more about this initiative.
