Not Just Another Saturday

What does "church" mean to you?  Why do we "go to church"?  When faced with the challenges of 2020, we learned a lot about the spirit of determination and conviction when it comes to God's people being gathered.  But is Sunday really special?  If so, why?  

In this series, we'll explore the five statements that define the culture and values of Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Our path forward into 2021 will carry these very values and as a community, we will remember that Sunday is not just another Saturday.

The "Code" of Westminster Presbyterian Church

Our code is all about who we are and what we value.  

  1. We will keep the main thing, the main thing – to glorify God
    WPC is a Christ-centered, Bible based church seeking to glorify God in all that we do so that we may enjoy His presence now and forever. Matthew 22:37-39
  2. We will be there to spur and encourage one another. 
    We are created for relationships with God and one another.  We value these relationships and will invest our time and energy in building these relationships. Hebrews 10:24-25, John 1:14
  3. We are clay in the hands of The Master. 
    How loving and patient He must be, ‘cause He’s still working on me. Isaiah 64:8, 1 Peter 1:3-8
  4. We seek to love and live like Jesus. 
    “Keep company with God and learn a life of love.  Observe how Christ loved us.  His love was not cautious but extravagant.  He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.” Ephesians 5:1-2
  5. We seek to pass on an inheritance of faithfulness. 
    The greatest gift we can pass onto future generations is a Christ-like character and faith.  Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Hebrews 6:12

We always encourage folks to gather in person or virtually to discuss the highlights of each week's sermon.  In this way, we intentionally go deeper - together and embrace a mindset that God's Word will be planted in us and nurtured to grow more.  If you are not discussing the sermon and its passage each week with others, then set aside time to explore the questions on your own!
