Children’s Ministries Director Assistant 


Westminster Presbyterian Church is a Christ-centered Bible-based church seeking to glorify God in all we do, so that we may enjoy His presence now and forever.


Position Summary: A dedicated part-time team member for the Children’s Ministries of WPC

Duties and Responsibilities:

Nursery (Birth to Pre K)

  1. Hiring and Training

    1. Write job descriptions and applications for nursery staff

    2. Make sure all staff fill out the appropriate paperwork

    3. Hold staff training 4 times a year

  2. Supervision

    1. Supervise all childcare workers in the Nursery program

    2. Recruit nursery workers

    3. Train new nursery staff

    4. Evaluate nursery staff performance

  3. Scheduling - 

    1. Ensure proper coverage at all times the nursery is open (Sunday mornings, Wednesday Evenings, and Special Events) in accordance with WPC policy

  4. Room and Facility Oversight

    1. Maintain clean and orderly childcare facilities at all times

    2. Assure rooms are ready and welcoming before children arrive

    3. Greet parents and children as they come in and assist with check-in as needed

    4. Clean and sanitize classrooms and toys, as well as ensure the rooms are in order 

    5. Purchase supplies 

Vacation Bible School

  1. Assist in planning and executing Vacation Bible School

    1. Recruit and train volunteers for Vacation Bible School

    2. Publicize Vacation Bible School to WPC and neighbors

    3. Order and organize supplies

    4. Assist in organizing and cleaning after Vacation Bible School

Special Events

  1. Parent Ministry Events

    1. Plan children’s programming for all Parent Ministry events (speakers, socials, etc) 

  2. Churchwide Events (i.e. Refresh) 

    1. Plan children’s programming for Refresh weekend

    2. Help plan events such as Fall Festival, Advent, Easter Egg Hunt, etc. 

    3. Work with church staff for events that require childcare


  1. Assist in writing and editing curriculum for Sunday morning worship and Kid’s Inc. 

  2. Write or gather curriculum for all Special Events

Other Areas

  1. Assist in training the Summer Intern on planning Super Summer trips

  2. Assist with the 4th - 5th Grade Girl’s group as needed

  3. Assist the Director of Children’s Ministries as needed 


  1. Desire to serve God through the nursery

  2. A strong leader with a gift for caring for children

  3. Great at organizing and multitasking

  4. Strong communicator; you are the face parents see when they drop their kids off.  We need people who are warm and welcoming to the parents, making them feel safe and secure when leaving their child in our care. 

  5. Sensitive to special needs and issues regarding the child.  Be respectful of the parents and their wishes while being firm and maintaining a safe environment for all the children. 

  6. Teachability and willingness to grow in Children Ministry skills

  7. Approachable and open to parents and CM Ministry team(s) 


  1. Report to the Director of Children’s Ministries

  2. Maintain a strong, open communication with the Director of Children’s Ministries, the Children’s Ministry Administrative Assistant, and other support staff. 

  3. Be an encouraging role model and caregiver for the children

  4. Be a “team player”

  5. Covenant partner of Westminster Presbyterian Church


This is a part-time position averaging 18-20 hours per week (although weekly hours worked will depend on Children’s Ministry programming)      


Dependant on experience.
